DigitalSports caught up with Syracuse assistant coach Randy Trivers during a recent recruiting trip in Maryland.
Having once guided Northwest of Montgomery County to a Class 4A state title led by quarterback Ike Whitaker, who went on to Virginia Tech, Trivers had some informative things to say about preparing high school football players for college, and what exactly determines the right fit for a recruit academically, athletically and socially.
A graduate of Sherwood High School in Montgomery County, Trivers also served as a former assistant at the University of Maryland on Mark Duffner’s staff.

FOOTBALL: THIS WEEKEND’S 7-ON-7 LEAGUE GAMES CANCELLED
Posted on 09 May 2008 by First Last.
From Edmondson coach Dante Jones, in reference to Baltimore City’s 7-on-7 passing league games:
Let me first apologize to any school that this may cause an inconvenience too. But, due to a site change for a lacrosse playoff game and the continuous rain we are forced to cancel May 10th, 7 on 7 passing league games.
We will not make up the games scheduled for this week. We will follow the schedule for the remaining week.
We are also going to change the format for the championship game, scheduled for May 24 at the Poly-Western Complex.
We are going to have a single game elimination tournament. We will meet on Thursday May 22, at Applebee’s at 7 pm.
All schools participating in the tournament must have a representative present at the seeding meeting.
